Translation
I charge between $0.10 US and $0.25 US per word in the source text, depending on the nature, difficulty, and formatting requirements of the text. In order to give you an accurate quote, it is best if I can see the document that needs translated. Clients usually email it to me. Please bear in mind that the final cost of the translation can vary ± 15% of the quote since no two language are the same in vocabulary and structure.
For “rush jobs” a surcharge of 20-50% applies. It depends on the amount of notice given.
My rates include translation, proof-reading, and reviewing.
I don’t charge extra for “certified translations.” Certified translations are most commonly required by courts, the DMV, or other public authorities in the U.S.
If you require a “notarized translation”, a fee of $35.00 US will apply since I will have to make a trip to a third-party notary to have my signature on the certification notarized. Notaries do not certify or notarize the translation, but the translator’s signature which appears on the certification.
If you need a “certified translation” into German for submission to courts, schools, or police stations in Bavaria, Germany, I’m able to accomplish this for you since I’m sworn-in at the Regional Court of Munich I (Landgericht München I). Only sworn-in translators are authorized to do certified translations in Bavaria.
