What you can expect from me:
Attention to detail:
A good translation sounds natural in the target language but reflects the message and style of the source text. I will correct minor errors such as spelling or grammar mistakes in the source text (the document you need translated); however I will call problems in the source text that could potentially affect the meaning of the target text (my translation) to your attention.
Accuracy in my work:
My translation will communicate the entire message. If there are questions of meaning, I will get in touch with you. It may be necessary to include additional explanations or footnotes in the translation because of cultural differences in the source and target language.
Adherence to your delivery schedule and specifications:
I make every effort to accommodate special requests and will work within your deadlines.
What I need from you:
A clear written work order.
Please specify:
a) what you need translated,
b) the intended use (target reader),
c) any special formatting requirements,
d) your delivery requirements and deadline,
e) your contact information (for any questions I might have).
Reference materials, if available.
I will greatly appreciate any glossaries, compilations of terminology, previous translations on the same subject, or any other material you might have pertaining to the translation job at hand. While terminology research is a vital part of my job as a translator, any reference you provide me with can shorten turnaround time and help ensure that the terminology I use in my translation is consistent with that used in your field or in any previous translation job you have had done.
